An interview with me

I have been interviewed for Expatinterviews.com. It features personal interviews from expats around the world.

I plan to ask for Dutch citizenship soon, which won’t make me an expat anymore. And after how many years is someone finally not referred to as an expat? In The Netherlands as of late, ‘expat’ is often used to indicate people of the Anglo-Saxon persuasion who are not very integrated. Not all expats are native English speakers. I’m a native of both English and French, but culturally French Canadian.

Amusingly enough, when talking about the Dutch abroad, ‘expat’ is not often used because it conjures up the above-mentioned image. There a whole discussion in there somewhere!
