Early tomorrow morning, I will be travelling by train from Amsterdam to Liège, Belgium for business. This will take just over three hours if all goes well. There are very few places that I dislike, and one of them happens to be Liège. I’ve been there twice, and all I remember is the industrial grey the city sports from its coal shovelling days. I know there’s more to the city than this, but I just never seem to get past the grey.
Tomorrow, I’m giving Liège its third and final chance. I love Belgium, I speak French (I don’t dare utter any Dutch there), and I hope it will be a good trip. Liège does have excellent waffles, although the one pictured here is more the oozing kind you get from Belgian train stations. Yum!
